Everyone wants to be the best in the business. Every new kid on the block starts out by looking up to Giants.

I am no different.

I have my own idols and inspirations – successful individuals who made their bone.

My 5 Giants in the blogging and freelance world are:

Skellie: who writes at Skelliewag.com and many other highly successful blogs. Her unconventional perspective and style of blogging is something I admire about her writing. She is one blogger I respect for her authenticity and uniqueness. Her success in the blogging world does not stop her from learning new things, like coding, either. She is a life-time learner. I love that.

Danial Scocco: who writes primarily at DailyBlogTips.com and successfully runs his network of blogs including DailyWritingTips.com. When it comes to blogging and business, he mixes it best. Innovative and always on the lookout for interesting projects. Daniel, I learn a ton from you!

Thursday Brum: a freelance writer and blogger. Thursday vast array of writing topics ranging from the freelance writing niche to geeky gadgets and more. She has also contributed to books and journals. She writes on the best blogs on the web. What more can I say, her dizzying collection of her writings is here.

Leo Babauta: of ZenHabits.net and Write to Done. His writings on ZenHabits are always thought provoking although its a struggle to follow them through! Mary Jaksch the Chief Editor at Write to Done is another amazing writer I admire.

Darren Rowse: of ProBlogger.net. How can we ever forget the father of blogging! His level of engagement, authenticity and value-based blog posts is something I will always admire. Maybe I am biased here, he is a pastor as was my father!

Other bloggers I admire:

Tina Su of ThinkSimpleNow.com – deep, soulful & authentic.

Penelope Trunk of PenelopeTrunk.com and BrazenCareerist.com – frank, authentic & loud.

Jonathan Mead of IlluminatedMind.net – fantastic, prolific writer and blogger.

Sean Platt the WriterDad - freelance writer, blogger and poet. Simply amazing.

I can only wish I write half as well as these guys. Thanks guys for writing!

3 Reasons to Stand on the Shoulders of Giants

Gives you Wisdom: Giants in any industry have put in the hard work, time, love and have become wise. Learning from these wise individuals as much as one can is imperative to get ahead of the game of blogging.

Experience without the Time: With their experience over the years they know what works and what doesn’t. They know when and how. I learned not to post during the recent internet meltdown following Michael Jackson’s death. Now, that’s experience.

Builds your Credibility : When you read and learn from Giants in your niche or blogging in general you also tend to quote them in you posts. Quoting Giants build your credibility and make you sound wise and experienced! You know what you are talking about.

Well, that’s just me.

Do you have writers or blogger you admire and, how and what do you learn from them. Share them in the comments.
